Third-Ranked ACHAD3 Men's Hockey Pulls Away from UM-Flint, 7-4

BURTON, Mich.--Senior Connor Juhasz recorded a hat trick as part of a four-point night, and freshman Will Jentz also had four points including three assists, to power the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 3 nationally-ranked Lawrence Tech men's hockey team to a 7-4 victory over host Michigan-Flint at the Crystal Fieldhouse on Friday evening.

The No.3-ranked Blue Devils have won 11 games in a row to up their season's record to 14-3-1 and 8-0-1 in the Michigan College Hockey Conference East Division. The Wolverines, meanwhile, fall to 6-14-2 overall.

Lawrence Tech Highlights
  • Sophomore Benjamin De Haas added three points on a goal and two assists.
  • Classmate Luke Radu was one of four Blue Devils to enjoy a multi-point game, finishing with a pair of helpers.
  • Junior goalie Timothy Young made 29 saves and was even credited with an assist.
UM-Flint Highlights
  • Ryan Rogers had 28 stops in goal.
  • Zach Potter led all student-athletes with four points--all on assists.
  • Leo Dragovic potted a pair of goals.
  • Blaine Gour chipped in a goal and an assist.
How it Happened
  • After UM-Flint scored two goals to close within 4-3, LTU found the back of the net three times--including a pair off the stick of Juhasz-- in the third period to take control. Juhasz scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 12 minutes and 44 seconds left in the game.
  • Lawrence Tech had jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first stanza on goals by De Haas (7:05), freshman Alex Grove (9:13) and Juhasz (11:05).
  • Two of the Wolverines' goals came via the power play.
  • The Blue Devils had 35 shots on goal to 33 for UM-Flint.
Beyond the Boxscore
  • Dragovic scored the first two goals of his Wolverines' career.
  • Young leads all LTU netminders with three assists on the season. He is 2-1-1 on the season with a 2.96 goals-against average.
  • De Hass raised his season scoring totals to eight goals and nine assists for 17 points.
  • Lawrence Tech senior Zachary Rais scored a goal to give him 10 on the season--matching his career high set last season.
