WHAC Release
ANN ARBOR, Mich.--The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced its postseason honors for women's bowling in advance of the WHAC Championships on Saturday at Royal Scot in Lansing, Mich. Winners will be honored following the conclusion of the event this weekend.
Coaches selected Lawrence Tech head coach
Kevin Wemyss as the Champion of Character Coach. Wemyss has led the Blue Devils this season to four top-5 finishes and 11 in the top-10 out of 13 events.
First-and second-team all-conference honors were awarded based on season averages. Bowlers must bowl in 75 percent of conference games to be eligible.
Lawrence Tech freshman Brooke Kochel earned All-WHAC Second Team accolades after averaging 196.31 over 13 conference games, knocking down a total of 2,552 pins. Overall, she owns a 189 average over 13 events and 49 games. The October 2 WHAC Women's Bowler of the Week has one top-5 finish to her credit among three in the top-10.
In addition to all-conference, the WHAC also named its All-Academic Team for sophomores or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA. Nominees also must have been in attendance at the nominating school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team consists of one student-athlete from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
Seniors Allison Clark (Twin Lakes, Mich./Wilmot Union High School), Carly Dlugos (Livonia Churchill HS) and Caroline Holowenko (Edmonton, Alberta/Ecole J.H. Picard HS) represented LTU on the Academic All-WHAC squad. Holowenko also was LTU's Champions of Character team member.
