Three Blue Devils Named to CCWHA All-Conference Teams

BURTON, MICH. -- The Lawrence Technological University women's ice hockey team had three players be awarded conference honors.

First Team: Sophia Buckberger, Forward (Oakville, Ontario) ~ Buckberger was second in the ACHA in goals scored (35) and fifth in points (51). She was one of only five players in ACHA to amass the 50 point plateau. Among the CCWHA, Buckberger led or tied for the lead in goals (1st), power-play goals (T-1, 5), and insurance goals (1st, 7) along with finishing second in unassisted goals with 7. Buckberger, or Captain Canada as her teammates call her, led the team both on the ice and off. She was the rock that kept the team together when they needed a boost.

First Team: Rachel Hart, Goalie (Reno, Nevada) ~ Hart finished the season with a 10-6-1 record, totaling 518 saves and a save percentage of .901. The 518 saves is good for second in the conference, while the .901 save percentage is also good for second (minimum 200 shots on goal). Hart was a driving force to help the Blue Devils get out to a great start to the season.

Second Team: Valeria Ortega, Defense (Metepec, Mexico) ~ Ortega finished the season with 17 points (3 goals, 14 assists), but her calling card was anchoring a defense that allowed 2.88 goals per game. Ortega was also integral as an assistant captain.
