Division 3 Final Poll (Ranking #8)
SOUTHFIELD--The Lawrence Tech ACHA Division 3 men's hockey team hopes its historic season continues this weekend in Greater St. Louis at the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 3 Championship Tournament hosted March 7-12 at the Centene Community Ice Center and Maryville University Hockey Center in Maryland Heights, Mo., and Chesterfield, Mo., respectively.
Last week, it was announced that LTU finished the regular season as the No. 1 ranked team in the ACHAMD3 Top-25 poll and will be top overall seed for Nationals. The Blue Devils (25-5-1) set a program record for victories in a season, besting last season's mark of 24-6-2. Lawrence Tech also captured its first Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference East Division title with a team-record 12-1-1 conference mark before falling to eight-time MCHC Vezina Cup winner Hope, 3-0, in the championship game.
At 2024 ACHA Nationals, Lawrence Tech will lead Pool A that includes No. 8 University of Arkansas, No. 9 Colby College and No. 16 Saint Vincent College. Hope, Grand Valley State and Missouri round out the top four and will lead their individual pools. The Blue Devils will get the national tournament underway on Thursday, March 7, versus Saint Vincent at 9:15 p.m. (8:15 CT), followed by Colby on Friday, March 8, at 6:15 p.m. (5:15 CT), and Arkansas on Saturday, March 9, at 9:15 p.m. (8:15 CT).
The LTU offense boasts a trio of 30-point scorers who are all experiencing career years including All-MCHC East First Team senior forward
Connor Juhasz (19 goals+17 assists=36 total points), All-MCHC East Second Team sophomore forward Ben DeHaas (19+15=34) and All-MCHC East Second Team freshman
Will Jentz (11+19=30). Freshman defenseman
Trevor Losier is the team's top point-producing blueliner with 5+6=11 scoring totals.
Sophomore goalie Owen Pryzbylo also earned first-team all-conference accolades between the pipes. He fashioned a 10-2-1 record with conference bests of a 1.29 goals-against average, .949 save percentage and three shutouts. Juniors
Griffin Foster (9-1-0, 1.43 GAA, .927 Save%) and
Timothy Young (6-1-1, 2.09, .924) give the Blue Devils depth at the position.
Last season, LTU went 2-0-1 in pool play as the No. 4 seed and lost in the National Semifinals to the top-ranked team.
