UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - In an impressive display at the SVSU Classic on January 17, 2025, Lawrence Tech University's track and field team, the Blue Devils, set new benchmarks by breaking seven school records and achieving 10 personal records at Saginaw Valley State University.
Outstanding among the achievements, Mathews Collins dashed to a record time of 6.87 in the 60 meters.
Aniya Adams demonstrated remarkable speed in the 400 meters with a record time of 1:01.79. Notably,
Graeson Lawrence set a phenomenal time of 1:54.48 in the 800 meters, positioning him ninth in the nation and the top freshman nationwide.
In field events,
Larry Washington launched the shot put to a record distance of 11.42 meters, while Neveah Paylor hurled the weight throw to 10.76 meters. The pole vault saw a peak with a height of 4.03 meters, and
Julian Bailey leapt to a triple jump record of 12.91 meters.
The event also witnessed the Blue Devils establishing 10 personal records, underscoring individual growth alongside team successes. Highlights include Frankie Swanson's 200 meters in 22.50 and
Aniya Adams improving her own 400 meters time to 1:01.70 within the same meet.
Lawrence Tech also dominated with six top-two finishes across various events.
Julian Bailey emerged victorious in the triple jump, while
Hunter Houser clinched a second place in pole vaulting. Additional significant placements included
Latrice Williams and Mathews Collins in the 60 meters hurdles and dash, respectively, both securing second place. Griffen Armbrustmacher and
Graeson Lawrence showcased their prowess in the mile and 800 meters, each earning a second-place finish.
These results reflect the hard work and preparation put forth by the Blue Devils, setting high expectations for their upcoming contests.
