CANTON, Mich. — The Lawrence Tech University women's bowling team swept the competition this past weekend, claiming first place at both AHBA 1 and AHBA 2 on October 25–26 at Super Bowl Lanes in Canton, Michigan.
The Blue Devils took 1st out of 17 teams at AHBA 1, then returned the next day to win AHBA 2, narrowly edging out St. Vincent College by just 19 pins. The JV squad also contributed strong results, placing 1st on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday.
AHBA 1 – 1st Place (5,439 pins)
Junior
Brooke Kochel (Murphysboro, Ill.) led the varsity team with a 1,157 six-game series, averaging 192.8 to finish 4th overall in the field. Sophomore
Amelia Lemanowicz (Mt. Arlington, N.J.) added a 1,113 series, averaging 185.5 to land just outside the top 10.
In the JV division,
Kayla Zygmontowicz (Warren, Mich.) claimed 1st overall with an 1147 series (191.2 avg), while freshman
Paiton Thompson (Wyoming, Mich.) followed closely with 1,125 pins (187.5 avg), securing 1st place team honors for LTU.
AHBA 2 – 1st Place (5,589 pins)
On Sunday, the Blue Devils kept the momentum going, once again topping the leaderboard in a tight finish. Junior
Kaelynn Weber (Tonawanda, N.Y.) led the way with a 567 series, followed closely by Lemanowicz (559) and sophomore
Samantha Czerw (Spencerport, N.Y.), who rolled a 212 game and totaled 556.
The JV team added another podium finish, placing 2nd out of six with 5,015 total pins.
Next up: The Blue Devils return to WHAC action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at WHAC #2, hosted by Rochester Christian University at Imperial Lanes.
