Lawrence Tech Women's Golf Takes Day 1 Lead at WHAC Championship

AUGUSTA, Mich. - In a remarkable display of skill and teamwork, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils secured a commanding lead in the first day of the WHAC Women's Golf Championship. The event, held on April 22, 2025, at the Stonehedge North Golf Club in Augusta, Michigan, saw Lawrence Tech finishing with a stellar score of 634, leading the competition among notable rivals including universities from Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. 

Sophomore Tanawan Vetchayanvivat led the Blue Devils with an impressive score of 146 over two rounds, consistently delivering a score of 73, which positioned her as the top individual player of the day. Supporting her were teammates sophomore Cadance Beuckelare with scores of 80 and 79, freshmen Claire Hollingsworth who played rounds of 83 and 79, sophomore Alix Schickele with 82 and 85, and senior Ella Smith scoring 83 and 85 respectively. Each player contributed to the team's dominant start in the championship.

Lawrence Tech's performance was not just a victory but a statement of intent, as they continue to prepare for the second day of the WHAC Championship on April 23, again at Stonehedge North Golf Club. With such a strong start, the team looks optimistic about their prospects of securing the championship title.
