Lawrence Tech University Breaks Ground on New Blue Devils Women’s Softball Field

Southfield, MI — The City of Southfield and Lawrence Technological University (LTU) officially broke ground on a brand-new Blue Devils Women's Softball Field on Friday, September 19, marking a major milestone for both LTU Athletics and the Southfield community. The groundbreaking ceremony, held at the Southfield Municipal Campus Softball Field, welcomed city leaders, university officials, donors, student-athletes, and community members to celebrate this transformative project.

The event, known as "LTU Day," highlighted the strong partnership between the City of Southfield and Lawrence Tech in advancing athletics, education, and community development. 

The new state-of-the-art softball field will provide the LTU Blue Devils Women's Softball Team with a true home venue designed to enhance both the athlete and fan experience. Features will include spectator seating, modern lighting, and multipurpose capabilities to support high-level collegiate competition as well as youth sports programs and community events.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2026, with the field ready for competition by the spring of 2027. Beyond serving LTU athletes, the project represents an investment in community enrichment—underscoring Southfield's commitment to enhancing quality of life for residents and strengthening partnerships with local institutions.

This project was made possible through the combined efforts of the City of Southfield and private donors, the new field represents more than just bricks and turf—it's a commitment to growth, excellence, and the future of Blue Devils Athletics.
