SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Building on the momentum of the 2025 campaign, the Lawrence Technological University softball team enters the 2026 season under second-year Head Coach Michael Mease with a focus on climbing the WHAC standings. Last season, the Blue Devils posted an 18–21 overall record with a 10–14 mark in conference play, highlighted by a strong 8–6 performance at home. The team will lean heavily on a veteran core of returners, including versatile junior
Sarah Basket and senior leaders
Ainsley Colman and
Alyssa Bloomfield. With the departure of several graduates, the Blue Devils are looking for increased production in the circle from
Sydney Mayer and a defensive anchor in freshman infielderÂ
Sophia Propps to solidify the spine of the team.
The 2026 schedule begins with high-intensity indoor competition at the Rosemont Dome in February, followed by a critical developmental stretch at the Space Coast Complex in Florida during spring break. These non-conference matchups are designed to prep the roster for the grueling Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference slate, which officially kicks off in late March against UNOH. As Coach Mease continues to instill a competitive "why not us" culture, the Blue Devils aim to improve their consistency on the road and leverage their incoming freshman class to secure a higher seed in the conference tournament and challenge traditional WHAC powerhouses like Indiana Tech and Madonna. The Blue Devils were ranked 6th in the WHAC preseason rankings. They will look to improve on that ranking and make their way to the top of the rankings.Â
