Blue Devils Strong Turnout At CMU Jack Skoog Open.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Lawrence Tech had a standout early-season performance at the CMU Jack Skoog Open on Friday, headlined by a school-record run from Latrice Williams and a dominant men's 60-meter dash sweep. The Blue Devils collected multiple event victories on the track and in the field, while adding several all-time program marks and strong debuts across both the men's and women's squads.

Williams delivered the performance of the meet for Lawrence Tech in the 60-meter hurdles, capturing the event title with 8.63 seconds, a personal best and new school record, ranking her No. 3 nationally. The result marks a major step forward for the hurdler and sets a high standard for the Blue Devils' women's squad as the indoor season progresses.

On the men's side, Lawrence Tech controlled the short sprints, sweeping the finals of the 60-meter dash. Frank led the group with a winning time of 6.78 seconds, followed closely by Jamal in 6.87 seconds, a personal best that also moves him to No. 2 on the program's all-time list. The 1–2–3 finish in the event underscored the depth and competitiveness of the Blue Devils' sprint group.

Field events also yielded significant victories for Lawrence Tech. Arianna Bragg claimed the women's high jump title, while Mason Smith secured the men's high jump win. Julian Bailey added another victory in the triple jump, and Bryce Butler topped the field in the shot put. The combination of horizontal, vertical and throwing event wins highlighted the balance of the Blue Devils' roster across event groups.

Lawrence Tech's middle-distance crew continued the momentum with control of the 600 and 800 meters. The Blue Devils went 1–2 in the 600, with Griffin taking the win and Camron finishing just 0.2 seconds behind for second place. In the 800 meters, Alec Shaw led the field for another Lawrence Tech victory, with Arlin Lyles closing well to secure the runner-up spot and complete a second 1–2 finish on the day.

The women's squad added depth on the track in the sprints and middle distances. Lawrence Tech placed fourth in the women's 60 meters, with Anaiia Simmons making a strong debut in the event. Simmons also broke the school record in the 600, clocking a converted 200-flat-track time of 1:41.8, adding another entry to the program record book and reinforcing the Blue Devils' strength in the mid-distance group.

With multiple event wins, a national top-three mark and several school records and personal bests, Lawrence Tech departs the CMU Jack Skoog Open with significant momentum. The Blue Devils will look to build on this performance when they return to competition on Jan. 17 at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open in Allendale, Mich., as the indoor season continues to unfold.
