Lawrence Tech Blue Devils Continue To Show Their Best At The GVSU Bob Eubanks Open

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Lawrence Tech University opened the new indoor track and field campaign with a strong sprint showing at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open on Saturday at the Kelly Family Sports Center, highlighted by multiple lifetime bests and a school record from the Blue Devils' sprinters.

In the women's 60-meter dash, Lawrence Tech placed two athletes in the finals, underscoring the depth at the top of the Blue Devils' short sprint group. Latrice Williams led the way with a third-place overall finish, clocking a lifetime-best 7.79 seconds. Teammate Martina Montserrat-Villar followed closely in fourth, running 7.82 seconds in a tightly contested final.

Williams carried that momentum into the 200 meters, where she added another standout performance and rewrote the program record book. The Blue Devils sprinter broke the school record in the event, crossing the line in 25.58 seconds. The record run capped a productive day for Williams, who delivered two of the top individual results of the meet for Lawrence Tech.

On the men's side, Jamal continued the theme of early-season breakthroughs with a lifetime best of his own in the 200 meters. He stopped the clock in 21.96 seconds, adding another notable performance to Lawrence Tech's sprint group and signaling promising speed for the remainder of the indoor schedule.

The Blue Devils' performances in the 60 meters and 200 meters set an encouraging tone for the campaign, with multiple athletes already producing personal-record efforts in the season's opening competition. The combination of a school record, top-three finishes, and steady progression in the sprints positions Lawrence Tech well as the team builds toward championship-meet form.

Lawrence Tech will look to build on these early results when the Blue Devils return to action on Jan. 24 at Bowen Field House in Ypsilanti, Michigan. With several athletes already in personal-best form, the upcoming meet will offer another opportunity to lower times, chase additional records, and continue developing momentum through the heart of the indoor season.
