Lawrence Tech women place second at WHAC Championship

| By:

YORKTOWN, Ind. - Lawrence Tech's women's golf team finished second out of 12 schools at the WHAC Championship, posting a team score of 102-over-par at The Players Club at Woodland Trails in Yorktown, Indiana. The Blue Devils closed just two shots behind tournament champion University of Northwestern Ohio, which won the conference title at 100-over.

Tanawan Vetchayanvivat led Lawrence Tech with a runner-up individual finish at 16-over, giving the Blue Devils one of the top rounds in the field during the multi-day event, which ran April 26-28. UNOH's Molly Douglas claimed medalist honors at 12-over, while Lawrence Tech also placed Wariya Turongkinanon in ninth at 25-over.

The Blue Devils added two more strong counting scores from Alix Schickele, who tied for 15th at 31-over, and Cadance Beuckelare, who finished 17th at 32-over. That group kept Lawrence Tech in contention throughout the championship and helped separate the Blue Devils from the rest of the 12-team field, even as the title race stayed tight with UNOH.

Played in clear conditions with temperatures ranging from the upper 40s to the mid-60s, the tournament tested teams over a full conference championship setup at Woodland Trails. Lawrence Tech answered with steady scoring across its lineup, staying close enough to pressure the eventual champion until the final totals were settled.

For Lawrence Tech, the finish underscored both depth and consistency on a conference stage. Vetchayanvivat's second-place showing set the tone, Turongkinanon added a top-10 result, and Schickele and Beuckelare rounded out a balanced effort that nearly delivered the WHAC title. Instead, the Blue Devils were left two shots short after one of the closest team races of the event.
