Young Blue Devils Volleyball Team Looks Ahead to the 2026 Season

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Lawrence Tech enters the volleyball season with a clear identity: a young but athletic Blue Devils squad that expects to pressure opponents from the service line while growing into greater consistency at the net. That combination shapes the early outlook for a team that may take its biggest strides as the season unfolds, especially once WHAC play begins and the level of match-to-match urgency rises.

Among the key returners, Maria Trevino Nunez and Kyndal James give the Blue Devils proven pieces to build around. Their experience should help steady a roster that is still developing chemistry. For a younger team, that depth can be important early as roles continue to take shape.

The Blue Devils' style starts with aggressive serving, a strength that can help Lawrence Tech create runs and disrupt opposing offenses. If that pressure translates into free points and off-system swings from the other side, it could become a defining feature of the team.

The opening stretch offers immediate measuring-stick matches. The first WHAC conference match is set for Wednesday, Sep. 9, 2026, when the Blue Devils travel to Defiance College. That contest should provide an early read on how quickly Lawrence Tech can settle into conference play. Two days later, the Blue Devils return home for their first home match, facing University of Northwestern Ohio on Friday, Sep. 11. The early schedule also includes another home WHAC matchup against Indiana Tech on Saturday, Sep. 12, giving Lawrence Tech a quick chance to establish itself on its own floor.

For Lawrence Tech, the season outlook rests less on finished-product expectations and more on how fast this athletic group can translate potential into steady play. With returning contributors such as Trevino Nunez and James in central roles, and with serving pressure already part of the team identity, the Blue Devils have pieces that can make them difficult to handle. If the blocking develops the way the program expects, Lawrence Tech could look much different by the middle of the conference schedule than it does in the opening week.
