RICHMOND, Ind. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) men's tennis team defeated Indiana University - East 9-0 on Tuesday evening at the Glen Miller Park Tennis Courts in Richmond, Ind. The win gives LTU a 6-0 record and solidifies an undefeated fall season for the Blue Devils.
Lawrence Tech swept the doubles matches as Sergio Lopez (SR/Madrid, Spain) and Javier Alvarez (SO/Santiago de Compostela, Spain) defeated Connor Kramer and Keaton Akers 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Jan Horstkoetter (FR/Cologne, Germany) and Mason Wenzel (SO/Howell, MI) defeate Colton Shipley and Alex Shelley 8-1, while Vincent Colarossi (SO/Dearborn Heights, MI) and Brandon Haarer (FR/Grand Ledge, Mich.) won at No. 3 doubles 8-4.
LTU headed into the singles match with a 3-0 lead and swept all six singles flights in straight sets. Lopez defeated Kramer at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2, while Alvarez took down Akers at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0.
Horstkoetter won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, followed by Colarossi at No. 4 (6-2, 6-0). Wenzel and Haarer both won their matches to help LTU to its second ever shutout.
The Blue Devils finished the road trip 3-0, as LTU defeated Judson College (Ill.) 7-1 and Adrian College (Mich.) 5-4.
Lawrence Tech is back on the courts in February when they host Alma College (Mich.) at the Southfield Tennis Courts on February 13.
