Blue Devils Move to 2-0 after 6-3 win at Taylor

UPLAND, Ind. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) men's tennis team moved to 2-0 on the season as they defeated Taylor University (Ind.) 6-3 on Thursday evening at the Taylor Tennis Facility in Upland, Ind.

Lawrence Tech (2-0) finished the doubles matches with a 2-1 lead as Jan Horstkoetter (FR/Cologne, Germany) and Mason Wenzel (SO/Howell, MI) won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Vincent Colarossi (SO/Dearborn Heights, MI) and Brandon Haarer (FR/Grand Ledge, Mich.) move to 1-1 on the season as they defeated Jacob Scott and Alex Hunter 9-8 (5).

The Blue Devils Sergio Lopez (SR/Madrid, Spain) moves to 2-0 on the season as he defeated Stephen All 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Javier Alvarez (SO/Santiago de Compostela, Spain) defeated Chris Robbins, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while Horstkoetter cruised past Alex Jung at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Alvarez and Horstkoetter each move to 2-0 this season. Wenzel also wins his second straight match as he defeats Derek Walker 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

LTU's Vincent Colarossi moves to 0-2 at No. 1 singles, losing 6-1, 6-1 to Juan Ramirez. Haarer lost to Scott, 6-3, 6-3, moving his record to 0-2 as well.

Next up: Lawrence Tech heads to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich. starting September 17. The ITA is the governing body of collegiate tennis and hosts 85 USTA/ITA Regional Championships around the country.
