SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University men's tennis team will host Adrian (Mich.) College on Wednesday, October 5 at the Southfield Tennis Courts at 4:00 P.M.
Lawrence Tech is currently 4-1 on the season, their most recent game on September 21 with Albion College. They finished the match undefeated. In doubles competition, tandem Sergio Lopez and Javier Alvarez defeated Zach McKenzie and Robert Joery 8-2, while Mason Wenzel and Jan Horstkoetter cruised past Josh McGarry and Israel Trevino at No. 2 doubles 8-1. Also winning their doubles contest were Vincent Colarossi and Chad Northey 8-4.
At first singles, Lopez defeated McKenzie 6-5, 6-0 and at No. 2 singles, Alvarez beat McGarry 6-2, 6-2. Both Horstkoetter and Wenzel took home victories at third and fourth singles, as well as Colarossi and Northey at fifth and sixth.
Adrian College is 2-1 on the season. In their most recent match, they blanked Heidelberg (Ohio) University, 9-0. Seniors Joey Loselle and junior Brandon Brom lead the Bulldogs as double winners in the top-2 singles and No. 1 doubles spots. Also winning their doubles match were junior Jeff Sophiea and freshman Tanner Wilcox. Freshman Kyle Haines and Nathan Waterbury won at No. 3 doubles and at No. 6 singles, Jonathon Rhind took home the win.
Lawrence Tech is 2-0 against Adrian College, winning 5-4 on October 10, 2015 and 7-2 on October 9, 2014. In last year's match, Sergio Lopez, Jan Horstkoetter and Mason Wenzel all won their singles matches at first, third and fifth singles. In doubles competition, Horstkoetter and Wenzel took home the Blue Devils' only win at second doubles.
