GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team fell in their final two games of the weekend on Sunday afternoon to (RV) Georgetown College. They finished the weekend 2-2 dropping them to 3-5 on the season.
Game 1 - GC 7, LTU 0
In game one, the Tigers overwhelmed LTU early, earning four runs on five hits in the first inning, including a homerun from Goyette. Georgetown struck again in the fourth, capitalizing on a Lawrence Tech error, upping the score to 5-0.
GC's final two runs came during the bottom of the sixth on a Janes' double that advanced Cooper and Watson to home plate. LTU reached on a Tiger error in the seventh but couldn't connect, ending the game with two pop-outs and a strikeout. The Blue Devils finished with eight batters left on base.
Game 2 - GC 6 - LTU 3
Georgetown opened the scoring in game two in the fourth inning with Goyette singling up the middle to bring home Allgeier who started the inning with a walk. LTU eventually found their groove posting their first run of the day in the third. Brooke Dillon put the ball in play with a single to left field bringing up Meredith Adams who slugged a triple also to left field, advancing Dillon home to tie the game at one apiece.
GC responded in their next at bat with three runs from Allgeier, Howard and Osborn putting solid separation between them and the Blue Devils. A fifth run in the fourth inning from Howes pulled the Tigers even farther away.
Despite the four run deficit LTU battled with a duo of runs in the fifth from Cherilyn Banas and Bailey Brown. It wasn't enough, however, and after a final trip around the bases for Georgetown, the game would finish 6-3 Tigers.
