Blue Devils Finish With 9-1 Win Over Cleary

HOWELL, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team defeated Cleary (Mich.) University 9-1 this afternoon in Howell, Michigan.

Lawrence Tech (10-14) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead following RBI's from Genna Skalski and Katie Kubiak, scoring Bailey Brown and Meredith Adams in the top of the third.

Skalski batted in a second RBI in the fifth, bringing Molette home after she reached on a single to left field. Later that inning, Dana Bigham got in on the action as she sent a double to right field allowing Skalski and Brown to round the bases, giving LTU a 5-0 padding.

The Cougars recorded their lone run in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Dormire, sending home Hall.

LTU finished the game with a strong seventh inning. Kubiak continued to bat well, singling to center field advancing Brown home before Bigham stepped up to the plate to crush a three-run homerun, scoring Kubiak and Adams, sealing the game 9-1.

On the mound, Cherney recorded six strikeouts while allowing only three hits and one run.

Game two with Cleary was suspended and is set to be scheduled for a later date.

The Blue Devils will now travel to Lourdes (Ohio) University on March 29 for their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm.
