SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team has a full slate this week as they open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with three games, beginning with Lourdes (Ohio) University this afternoon in Sylvania, Ohio. First pitch will be at 3:30 pm.
LAST TIME OUT
Lawrence Tech (10-14) had no problem with Cleary (Mich.) University on March 25 as they traveled to Howell, Michigan for a doubles header. In game one, LTU muzzled the Cougars, winning 9-1. Alexa Cherney allowed only three hits and one run while tallying six strikeouts. Bailey Brown lead the Blue Devils with three runs followed by Meredith Adams with two and Alina Molette, Genna Skalski, Katie Kubiak and Dana Bigham all added one each. Bigham also brought in a team high four RBI's.
SCOUTING THE GRAY WOLVES
Lourdes enters this matchup with an overall record of 4-10, recently dropping a doubleheader to University of Findlay on March 21 9-3 and 12-5. In game two, Taylor Genzmen, Kayla Encalado, Olivia Stanton, Lexi Ripperger and Paige Churchfield all recorded one run each. Taylor Tafelski and Churchfield led the way with two hits respectively. On the mound, Samantha Shirling and Marissa Kostick split time, allowing six runs each.
Genzman paces Lourdes with a 0.457 batting average, earning 21 hits. Stanton is first in RBI's, bringing in 10 to average 0.83 a game. Meghan Birr has stolen a team high four bases, 0.31 average, while Brooke Gallaher has posted a 3.60 ERA and 15 strikeouts while on the mound.
As a team, the Gray Wolves are batting 0.268%, recording 57 runs, 96 hits, 12 doubles, one triple and four homeruns. LU has a 0.339 on-base percentage while allowing their opponents 0.452%.
