SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The RV Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's tennis team travels to Grand Rapids, Michigan this morning to take on the No. 17-ranked Aquinas College. First serve will be at 10:00 am.
Lawrence Tech (14-3, 1-0) enters this match up after a 7-2 win over Indiana Tech on March 22 in Southfield, Michigan. Juan Bermudez and Javier Alvarez took home a win at first doubles while Jan Horstkoetter and Mason Wenzel defeated their opponents at second doubles. Vincent Colarossi and Stijn Bremer completed the doubles sweep with a win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Bermudez won at first singles while Alvarez beat his opponent at second singles. At No. 2 and No. 6 singles Robert Saitov and Bremer both supplied wins for the Blue Devils.
The Saints are 11-3 on the season, riding a nine-game winning streak including a 7-2 win over No. 25 Lewis-Clark State (ID.) College on March 30 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Aquinas was flawless in doubles play as Gunnar Peery and partner Chase Peery recorded an 8-3 at first doubles and Jordan Lomas and Evan Taylor finished with an 8-5 win at second doubles. Will Buurman and K. Salgado-Pasantes held steady at third doubles for an 8-4 win.
G. Peery continued his winning momentum into singles action, finishing with a win at No. 1 singles as C. Peery, Buurma and Ryan Fedewa all closed shop with wins at third, fourth and sixth singles respectively. The only two losses came from Lomas at second singles and Kenny Garstecki at fifth singles.
