Lawrence Tech Falls to Jamestown, Rebounds with Win Over Dakota Wesleyan

TUCSON, Ari. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team continues to battle in Tucson, splitting today's games with University of Jamestown (N.D.) and Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University.

LTU 0, JAMESTOWN 3

Lawrence Tech (6-9) fell behind early in game one against the Jimmies. Keller was able to advance home on a double to left field from Sassaman before Schorzman scored off a Duchi RBI.

Jamestown maintained their lead with a second run in the fifth by Schorzman and went on the secure the win 3-0.

On the mound, Brittany Bult recorded two strikeouts and one allowed run.

LTU 5, DWU 3

In game two, LTU was led by Bailey Brown with two runs, three hits, including a homerun, and two RBI's in four at bats. Dana Bigham also brought in two RBI's on two hits while Brooke Dillon finished the game with three hits and one RBI.

Alexa Cherney ended the day with three strikeouts while on the mound for Lawrence Tech.

Brown's homerun in the first inning sparked the LTU offense, leading to a Bigham single to center field that brought around Meredith Adams and Brooke Dillon. In the following inning, Brown singled to right field to send home Alina Molette who reached third on a bomb to right field.

The Tigers eventually got on the board in the sixth, Konda scoring on a Loeppky single to left field. But LTU answered with a fifth run in the seventh from Brown that gave the Blue Devils a 5-1 lead. In a last chance effort, DWU managed to squeeze out two more runs on a two run homerun from Severance but came up short, falling 5-3.

The Blue Devils return to action tomorrow morning with games against Missouri Valley College at 11:00 am and Dordt College at 1:00 pm.
