LTU Travels to Livonia, Michigan for Doubeheader with Madonna, Returns for Home Opener Tomorrow

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team is primed for a full slate this weekend as they travel to Madonna (Mich.) University today for a 1:00 pm doubleheader in Livonia, Michigan then head home for the season home opener with University of Michigan-Dearborn tomorrow starting at 1:00 pm. Tomorrow's home game will be played at St. Catherine's Academy in Wixom, Michigan.

LAST TIME OUT

Lawrence Tech (12-14, 2-0) made their WHAC debut on Wednesday, March 29, coming out strong with a pair of wins against Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio. In game one, the Blue Devils won 5-4 in eight innings; Bailey Brown, Meredith Adams, Sydney Schultz, Mary Armstrong and Jackie Mattingly all recording runs. Armstrong brought in a team high two RBI's on a homerun to left, giving LTU the edge they needed to seal the win.

Alexa Cherney tallied 10 strikeouts and only four allowed runs.

In game two, the Blue Devils scored all eight of their runs in the fifth inning from Adams, Molette, Mattingly, Genna Skalski, Hanna Ruddock, Madison Solecki, Maddy Gapshes, Cherilyn Banas. Molette brought in a team best three RBI's with her fourth triple on the season.

On the mound, Sydney Schultz recorded two strikeouts while Cherney finished with three.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS

Madonna comes into this contest with an overall record of 12-9, 1-1 conference, recently splitting with University of Michigan-Dearborn on March 29. The Crusaders took game one 6-2, led by Bri Giordano with three hits, three RBI's and one run. Morgan Kaiser added two runs while Mallory Daschke, Emma Sikina and Becky Giacobbi all added one each. Erin Combs was on the mound for Madonna, making six strikeouts while allowing two runs and seven hits.

Giordano led the Crusaders in their 8-7 loss in game two with three runs, three RBI's and three hits. Mikey Kish followed with two runs while Kaiser and Nicky Salloum both added one run apiece.

Salloum is batting a team best 0.397, earning 25 hits while Kish brings in an average of 0.91 RBI's, 19 total. Giacobbi has stolen nine bases on the season, best on the team and Combs has recorded an ERA of 1.66. Madisen Henry leads the team in strikeouts with 7.73 per game.

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES

University of Michigan-Dearborn is 12-6-1, 1-2-1 WHAC on the season, recently splitting with Madonna. The Wolverines were led by Sarah Prashad with one run and two hits. Jordan Ewald added the only other run in the 6-2 loss for UM-Dearborn. Gina Verduzco finished with four strikeouts, five hits and four runs.

Kassidy Butler paced Dearborn in game two with two runs, three hits and two RBI's. Ewald and Amy Jarrett both added two runs each and Prashad and Kylie Hill notched one run apiece. On the mound, Alexandra Elwell and Verduzco combined for three strikeouts and 10 hits.

As a team, the Wolverines are hitting 0.293 and have tallied 107 runs, 159 hits, 28 doubles, one triple, 13 homeruns and 96 RBI's.
