SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team is set to play Indiana Tech this afternoon hosted by Madonna (Mich.) University in Livonia, Michigan. First pitch of the doubleheader will be at 12:00 PM.
LAST TIME OUT
Lawrence Tech recently improved their overall record to 17-25, 5-11 WHAC with a sweep over Cornerstone (Mich.) University on April 21 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. LTU won the first game 7-0, led by Meredith Adams who finished with two homeruns in her three runs, three hits and three RBI's. Alina Molette also fired off a homerun to finished with two runs, three hits and one RBI. In the circle, Alexa Cherney allowed only three hits while striking out eight and walking one.
In game two, the Blue Devils rallied back from a 7-0 deficit to take the game 10-9. Genna Skalski and Cherilyn Banas paced LTU with two runs apiece. Banas also turned in a team-best four hits while Adams brought around three more RBI's. Sydney Schultz took home the win in game two, finishing with two allowed runs on five hits with four stikeouts.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Indiana Tech enters this contest with a record of 4-35-1, 1-15-0 conference. Their four wins came against Houston-Tillotson (Tex.) College 5-4 on March 14, Our Lady of the Lake (Tex.) University 6-0 on March 15, Concordia University - Texas 10-8 on March 16 and Lourdes (Ohio) University 5-3 on April 15.
In their most recent contest, the Warriors fell 12-10 and 9-3 to Concordia (Mich.) University on April 23 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Lauren Ohnesorge and Kelsey Reinhardt tallied two runs apiece in game one to pace IT while Emily Martin batted three hits and four RBI's. Danielle Franklin took the loss, finished with eight runs on nine hits with one strikeout and five walked batters.
The Warriors are led by Brianna Glass, batting 0.338 on the season with 27 total hits. She also leads the team in stolen bases, nabbing 22 total. Hannah Foltz has brought in 19 RBI's, best on the team, while Alexis Vargo has amassed a team-high 25 strikeouts, 3.28 average.
As a team, IT has posted 122 runs, 248 hits, 42 doubles, two triples, 13 homeruns and 105 RBI's. They have a slugging percentage of .326 and a .253 batting average.
