SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team travels to Lima, Ohio this afternoon to continue their doubleheader with the University of Northwestern Ohio postponed earlier this season due to weather. First pitch will start at 2:00 PM, resuming with UNOH leading 1-0.
LAST TIME OUT
Lawrence Tech (19-25, 7-11) is coming off a sweep of Indiana Tech on Monday, April 24, winning game one 8-0 in six innings and game two 3-2.
Alina Molette finished game one with two runs on three hits and a team-best four RBI's. Jackie Mattingly also recorded two runs and Dana Bigham notched two RBI's. On the mound, Alexa Cherney gave up six hits but held the Warriors scoreless, striking out five in the process.
In game two, Molette continued to play well, earning the game-winning RBI with a sacrifice bunt to score Bailey Brown and give LTU a 3-2 lead. Genna Skalski went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI while Bigham and Brooke Dillon added two hits apiece. Sydney Schultz started in the circle, tallying one strikeout before being relieved by Cherney who finished with five stikeouts.
SCOUTING THE RACERS
UNOH comes into this contest with an overall record of 28-22, 9-8 WHAC. They have recorded four consecutive wins in their past five games, including a pair against (RV) Aquinas (Mich.) College, 8-1 and 3-0, on April 23 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Mackenzie Watson led the Racers in game two, recording one run and one RBI. Grace Jackson and Kayla Ward also added one run each to give them the 3-0 advantage over the Saints. Aubrey Brunst was on the mound for UNOH, allowing three hits and no runs with two strikeouts and one walked batter.
Macey Harder paces Northwestern with a .391 batting average, totaling 61 hits. Harder also leads the team in RBI's, averaging 0.79 per game. In the circle, Heahter Sanderson posts an ERA of 2.35 while averaging 3.21 strikeouts.
UNOH ranks No. 1 in the NAIA Div. I in total doubles (109), No. 3 in doubles per game (2.180), No 4 in total at bats (1450) and No. 5 in total assists (483).
