SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's tennis team defeated Aquinas (Mich.) College, 8-1, in Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday, March 30.
Lawrence Tech (12-6, 3-1) took an early 3-0 lead after winning all doubles flights. Alexander Tammaro and Alex Fernandez-Rajal defeated Chase Peery and Killian Salgado-Pasantes, 8-4, at court-one. Alejo Godall-Tintore and Lukas Obel notched an 8-4 victory over Joao Andre and Tien Anh-Tran at second flight. At court-three, Robert Saitov and Viktor Kolesnychenko won 8-1 against Kevin Loftis and John Elizalde.
In singles action, a 6-0, 6-1 win by Kolesnychenko at fourth flight pushed the Blue Devil lead to 4-0. Aquinas (2-10, 0-2) struck back at court-two as Saitov fell 6-1, 6-2 to Salgado-Pasantes. Fernandez-Rajal was in charge of sealing LTU's victory at third flight after defeating Andre 6-0, 6-4. Tammaro notched a 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory at first flight against Peery. Obel took fifth flight (6-2, 6-3) versus Loftis, while Godall-Tintore defeated Elizalde with a double 6-1 at court-six.
The Blue Devils will face off with Indiana Wesleyan University as part of the IWU Wildcat Invitational on Friday, April 5 in Marion, Ind. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
