SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's tennis team defeated Concordia (Mich.) University-Ann Arbor, 9-0, in their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener match on Tuesday, March 5. With this result, the Blue Devils push their all-time series lead to 4-0. In addition, this is the third year in a row that LTU takes the win in its opening conference match.
Lawrence Tech (7-4, 1-0) got off to a hot start as they won all doubles flights. At court-one, the duo of Alexander Tammaro and Alex Fernandez-Rajal defeated Gustavo Lozada and Joel Werner, 8-2. Robert Saitov and Lukas Obel took second flight after winning, 8-1, against James Olson and Adam DiMaggio. Alejo Godall-Tintore and Viktor Kolesnychenko defeated Sean Sheppard and Colton Ritsema, 8-0, at court-three.
In singles action, the Blue Devils nabbed the last six points of the match by winning all flights. Tammaro took court-one singles with a double 6-3 victory, while Saitov notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at second flight. Fernandez-Rajal, Obel and Kolesnychenko won 6-1, 6-0 at courts-three, four and five, respectively. Alger notched a double bagel victory at sixth flight.
The Blue Devils will be back on the court on Wednesday, March 6 at 12:30 p.m. when they host WHAC foe Indiana Tech at the Franklin Athletic Club.
