Oles Scores Eight Goals as Lawrence Tech Takes Control Early, Cruises to 20-11 Win at Taylor on Wednesday

UPLAND, Ind. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's lacrosse team defeated Taylor (Ind.) University 20-11 in Upland, Ind., on Wednesday evening.

Lawrence Tech (7-5, 4-2) went up 8-0 in the first quarter as Brendan Oles notched his first of eight goals on the night to give LTU a 1-0 lead just over a minute into the game. Jacob Flood made it 2-0 followed by goals from Justin Light, Nathan Greenwood, Oles, Dylan Couture, Aidan Nolan, and Oles.

Taylor (5-4, 1-4) finally got on the board to start the second quarter as Ian McClain cut the lead to 8-1. The Blue Devils responded with four straight goals including Nolan's man-up goal to start the run. Flood, Oles, and Light scored the other three goals with Oles also notching an assist. The Trojans made it 12-2 at 9:07 of the second, but Oles responded with a goal two minutes later to retake the 11-goal lead at 13-2.

The Trojans kept the fight as they scored three more goals in the second, but it was the Blue Devils that kept Taylor at bay, matching them goal for goal to finish the quarter up 16-5. The third quarter was a tight 15 minutes as both teams ramped up the defense, allowing just three goals apiece to head to the fourth with LTU leading 19-8. Couture had a pair of goals while Oles had his eighth of the game.

The Blue Devils added a goal in the fourth quarter with Couture recording his fourth of the game to put Lawrence Tech up 20-11. Flood, Light, and Nolan each finished the game with two goals while Greenwood added his second goal of the season.

Joel Trent played all 30 minutes in goal making six saves on 11 shots while Jacob Sacdalan played 15 minutes allowing one goal on four shots. Brent Matthews played the final quarter allowing three goals on six shots.

The Blue Devils are now off until April 17 when they host Siena Heights (Mich.) University at 5 p.m. in Farmington Hills, Mich. at Farmington Hills Harrison High School.
