Blue Devils Shutout Cardinals in WHAC Tournament's First Round

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's tennis team defeated Concordia (Mich.) University-Ann Arbor, 5-0, in the first round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament first round.

Lawrence Tech (15-8, 3-2) started with a two-point lead after Concordia (4-8, 0-5) withdrew third flight doubles and court-six singles.

The Blue Devils stretched the lead to 3-0 after Viktor Kolesnychenko took singles fourth flight against Sean Sheppard 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles action, LTU sealed the victory with wins in courts two and one. Lukas Obel and Alejo Godall-Tintore defeated Joel Werner and Colton Ritsema, 8-1, at second flight. The duo of Alex Fernandez-Rajal and Adam Alger took court-one against James Olson and Adam DiMaggio, 8-6.

The Blue Devils return to the courts on Wednesday, April 24 in the WHAc Tournament Semifinals against Indiana Tech. First serve is set for noon in Fort Wayne, Ind. at the Swinney Tennis Center.
