Blue Devils Fall to Warriors in WHAC Semifinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind.- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's tennis team were eliminated from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament after falling 5-1 to Indiana Tech in the semifinals at the Wildwood Racquet Club.

Indiana Tech (13-10, 4-1) took an early lead in doubles action after Robert Saitov and Viktor Kolesnychenko dropped third flight, 8-1, against Alvaro Gomez and Andres Leal. Lawrence Tech (15-9, 3-2) tied the match when Alexander Tammaro and Alex Fernandez-Rajal defeated Tiago Neves and Brunno Storani, 8-4, at court-one. The Warriors reclaimed the lead in second flight as Lukas Obel and Alejo Godall-Tintore dropped an 8-4 decision to Rui Lima and Alvaro Garrido.

In singles action, Kolesnychenko (6-1, 6-4) and Obel (6-3, 6-2) fell to Lima and Garrido at fifth and fourth flights, respectively, to stretch the deficit to 4-1. Indiana Tech sealed the victory over LTU when Fernandez-Rajal (6-1, 6-3) dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Storani at court-two.

The Blue Devils will be back on the court next Fall.
