Blue Devils Overcome by Late Run by NO. 3 Indiana Tech Warriors on Saturday

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Despite a hard fought game and a halftime four goal lead, the Lawrence Technological University men's lacrosse team fell to the NO. 3 ranked team in the nation Indiana Tech (9-2, 3-1) 13-11 on Saturday afternoon. Up next, the Blue Devils play Taylor (Ind.) at the Trojans home field.

The Blue Devils (6-5, 3-2)  kept up with the Warriors, including a solid lead at halftime. However, in several categories, they narrowly fell short. Lawrence Tech had 18 turnovers to Indiana's 13, 39 shots to Tech's 41 and beat them with 29 ground balls to their 22.

Leading the Blue Devils was the efforts of Maveric Muscat and Brendan Oles who both grabbed four points. Oles had three goals and an assist while Muscat had three assists and one goal. Also right there with them was Justin Light and Dylan Couture with three points. Couture had three goals and Light had two goals and one assist. Defensively, Jacob Flood and Joseph Rosales each had two caused turnovers and Nik Kubik had seven ground balls. Keeping his team alive, Joel Trent grabbed 14 saves in the loss.

Lawrence Tech opened the game dominate, stunning the Warriors after a pretty stand still first eight minutes of the game where they then scored four quick goals in under five minutes. Entering the second quarter, the game got slightly closer with a Blue Devil goal that was responded with by three by the Warriors. Yet, the Blue Devils had one more to answer before going into the half with a goal by Couture, fed by Muscat.

The third quarter saw the NO. 3 team take off with three goals in under a minute. While LTU had a response in the stick of Light, the Warriors narrow the gap to two with a score of 9-7. Then, Indiana Tech went on another run, tying the game 9-9. The blue Devils went up again with another goal from Couture, but Tech was right there to tie the game 10-10 going into the fourth and final quarter.

While Lawrence Tech opened the last quarter with a quick goal from Aidan Nolan with an assist from Muscat, that was it for the Blue Devils as the Warriors went on another three goal streak to win the game 13-11.
