Box Score Amherst, NY – The Lawrence Technological University ACHA D1 men's ice hockey team closed out a three-game weekend on Sunday afternoon with a 6-4 win over the University at Buffalo.
How it Happened:
First Period:
- The Bulls scored 19 seconds into the contest to take an early 1-0 lead
- A shorthanded goal from Cole Therrian at 12:08 mark tied the score at 1-1
- UB responded less than two minutes later, at the 13:52 mark, to take a 2-1 advantage to intermission
Second Period:
- This time LTU struck early, via the powerplay, as Thimo Ey and Blake Heier assisted on a John Horn goal 53 seconds into the period.
- Ey added an even-strength marker less than two minutes later (17:41 left), to give the Blue Devils its first lead of the game
- The Bulls answered quickly at the 3:32 mark on the powerplay to knot the game at 3-3 before adding another at the 9:56 mark to retake the lead
- Jordon Woytas found Ethan Grover at the 11:48 mark at even strength to retie the contest at 4-4
- Heier and Sean Pilet set up Ely on the powerplay at the 13:01 mark to give LTU a 5-4 lead heading to the third period
Third Period
- After a six-goal second stanza, only one marker was scored in the third as Ely scored on the powerplay, unassisted, to get the hat trick and secure the 6-4 win for LTU
