Hillsdale, MI- The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) men's tennis team lost their first match of the 2021 season against Hillsdale College (MI.) with a final score of 4-0.
In the #1 doubles match, Alexander Tammaro (JR/Caracas, Venezuela), and Jannis Schneider (Grad Student/Leverkusen) lost to Tyler Concrad/Sean Barstow with a score of 6-4. In the #2 doubles match, Lukas Obel (JR/Waybridge, England) and Patrick Putschbach (FR/Monchweiler, Germany) lost against Brennen Cimpeanu and Gabe Katz with a score of 6-1. In the #3 doubles match, Alex Rajel (JR/Barcelona, Spain) and Luca Roch (Grad Student/Berlin, Germany) lost to Daniel Gilbert and Brian Hackman with a score of 6-2.
In singles matches, Tammaro lost a tight matchup with a score of 3-6, 6-0, and 6-2. Pedro Garcia-Orellana (SO/ Madrid, Spain) lost in straight sets 6-1 and 6-3. In the #3 and final match of the day, Putschbach and Bartsow battled all the way to the fourth set after being down early 2-0. He ended up winning the third set and lost in the fourth (6-2, 6-7, 5-7, 6-1). Alex Rajal and Luca Roth were unfinished results. No result for the single match up Jannis Schneider vs. Nico Schmidt.
LTU will go back to the courts Wednesday afternoon February, 17th at home and the match will begin at 12:00 pm.
