Men's Tennis Snags a Victory Against LSSU 4-3

Southfield, MI - The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) Men's Tennis team hits the gridiron and came out on top in a close match against a really solid team in Lake Superior State University in a non-conference home match with a final score of 4-3.

In the #1 doubles match, Alexander Tammaro and Jannis Schneider defeated Kantola and Vicent (LSSU) in a very tight match up going down to the wire with a score of 7-6. In the #2 doubles match, Lukas Obel and Patrick Putschbach  who both seem to be playing great ball together, did get tested in their doubled match, but ended up beating Penz/Sahbzeoa with a final score of 7-6. In the #3 doubles match, was the last doubles match of the day for the LTU men, and Luca Roch and Kevin Bollmann came up short against Pinneo and Irfenulhaq with a final score of 3-6. 

Now onto the singles matches for your Blue Devils, captain Tammaro came out swinging early to take a 1-0 lead winning the first set 6-2. His opponent, Juho Kantola came back to win the second set 6-3. In the final set it came down to match point, as both men battled to win, but Tammaro came up just short, as Kantola was able to pull away with the victory 8-10, with a 2-1 final score. Patrick Putschbach was a drawn a tough matchup in Xavier Vincent, and lost his match in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). In the #3 singles match, the team is down 2-0 in single matches on the day, and Pedro Garcia-Orellena wasn't going to let his team down. He came out in the first set and got out to an early leading winning the first set 7-5. His opponent Krighen Taneja won the second set 6-3. Garcia-Orellena put the team on his back in the final set and took his opponent all the way to sudden death beating his matchup with a final score of 13-11. Luca Roth was the #4 singles match, as he lost in straight sets to Ali Sahbzeoa with a final score of 3-6, 1-6. The final two single matches for LTU were Alex Rajal and Jannis Schneider and they both were able to cap off nice victories. Rajal won in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, and Schneider's match went down to the wire as him and his opponent went to the final set, but Schneider ended up winning with a score of 7-5, 3-6, 15-13. 

Lawrence Tech Men's Tennis is now 2-1 overall. LTU will continue their match play on Wednesday morning, February 24th on the road as the team will travel to Indiana and play (#18) Grace College as they will compete against a tough team. The match will begin at 11:00 AM EST.
