Lima, Ohio - The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) men's tennis team has now lost three in a row, as they fell just short against Davenport University in the afternoon on Saturday, February 27th. The final score in that contest was 3-4.
In the #1 afternoon doubles match against Davenport, Alexander Tammaro and Patrick Putschbach set the tone early for thier team as they were able to win their match in straight sets with final score of 6-4. In the #2 doubles match, Jannis Schneider and Kevin Bollmann continued the trend as they won in straight sets to Frank Piona and Danil Khitrou with a score of 6-3. Alex Rajal and Luca Roth were the third and final doubles match on the afternoon, and their match ended in a no result.
In afternoon singles matches, Tammaro started the day for LTU as he lost in straight sets 4-6, 4-6. Putschbach came up short in the second doubles match and he lost his match 3-6, 6-7 to his opponent, Piona. The third single match for the LTU men was Nico Ormotta and he lost 1-6, 4-6. The next match was Pedro Garcia-Orellana as he competed against Jonothon Bulmar with a final score of 6-7, 0-6. The fifth singles match on the day came from Luca Roth, and his match was the only match on the afternoon to go into the final set. Roth won the first set 7-5. His opponent, Juan Pino Contolcon even things up in the second set with a score of 2-6. Roth then came back in the third set to solitify the victory ending the match with a score of 10-8. Bollmann was the final singles match on the day as he ended on a high note beating his opponent in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
LTU will be back to the courts Wednesday afternoon March 3rd where the match will begin at 12:00 PM as the team will travel to Findley, Ohio to play Findley University inside the Findley YMCA.
