Southfield, MI - The Lawrence Technological University men's lacrosse team opens up the 2022 season at home inside the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse against the Kalamazoo College Hornets on Saturday, February 12th at 6 PM.
LTU is coming off an 0-2 (0-1 WHAC) shortened season, finishing 8th in the WHAC standings. This season they were picked to finish 7th in the WHAC
Head Coach Paul Nemzek enters his 5th season at the helm of the men's lacrosse program. LTU will play four non-conference games before the WHAC contests begin in late March. During the regular season, Lawrence Tech will play four non-conference games in total and nine conference matches with the WHAC Tournament set to begin at the end of April.
Coach Nemzek returns most of the core from last season, including three team captains who have all been starters every year they've played.
Senior captain Wyatt Nedbal is arguably one of the best defenders in the country, usually drawing opponents' toughest matchups and causing turnovers that transition into successful scoring opportunities. Nedbal led the conference last season with four caused turnovers a game.
Senior captain Maveric Muscat is also touted as one of the nations' best at his position of attack. Drawing opponents' best defenders, Muscat's experience and vision create scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates.
Senior captain Joe Rosales is a jack-of-all-trades midfielder for this team, playing offense and defense, taking faceoffs, and even moving to long-stick midfielder when he needs to. Rosales is also classified as one of the best in the nation at his position.
Another notable player is Junior Damian Hudson, an electric midfielder whose combination of experience and athleticism make him dangerous on both sides of the field.
Eli Lozinksi looks to add to a shortened Freshman season, where he led the team in goals. He has become a more complete player to go along with his already lethal shot, gearing him up to be among the team lead in goals and total points once again this year.
Senior goalie Brent Matthews prepares to show that the tandem of his clearing ability and athleticism sets him apart from most goalies in the country.
Grady Holmes, an incoming freshman from Oxford, OH looking to make an impact, is a big left-handed dodger and shooter already. His size and skill set will give teams trouble for years to come.
