Box Score Birmingham, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils' men's lacrosse team opened their season against the Kalamazoo College Hornets, and came away victorious by the score of 10-8.
Tehaluntasele Cornelius led all players with three goals, Eli Lozinski added a goal and three helpers, Hunter Hendricks led the defense with four caused turnovers.
How it Happened:
1st Quarter:
- Grady Holmes opened the season with a goal, from Lozinski
- Jack Loveland answered back
- Lozinski set up Nathan Ford, with a man advantage, to reclaim the lead
- in the final minute, Cornelius scored off an assist from Lozinski
- LTU led KC 4-2
2nd Quarter:
- Cornelius' two goals sandwich Damian Hudson's goal, extending the advantage to five
- Jack Jesko finds Dylan McGorisk, at a man advantage, to cut the deficit to 7-3
- Down the stretch, JJ Ohren-Hoeft and Jake Nugent score in the final 30 seconds to whittle the difference to two
- Lawrence Tech took a 7-5 lead to the break
3rd Quarter:
- Two Vincent Tran goals tied the game at seven
- Joe Rosales gave LTU a lead again, at 8-7
- A minute and change later, the Hornets knotted it up at eight
- Wyatt Nedbal took it coast-to-coast, giving the Blue Devils a 9-8 lead
4th Quarter:
- Lozinski netted at 10-8 gone, putting the nail in the coffin
The Blue Devils (1-0) will travel to Florida to take on Webber International for a 1 pm start on Monday, March 7.
