COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils softball team dropped a pair of games on day two of the NFCA NAIA Leadoff Classic Tournament. They played Evangel University in game one before facing #11 Georgia Gwinnett College in the nightcap.

How It Happened: LTU 0, EU 8 (9 Innings)

• Megan Stone walks, steals second, then scores without the benefit of a hit to put the Valor up 1-0 in the first
• Karlee Romines scores on a Larissa Mercado error, expanding the Evangel lead to two
• Annslee Leeviraphan scores on a single by Josie Allcock. Valor lead 3-0 after one inning
• Leeviraphan doubled in Trystin Minnick and Kaydran Russell to start a four-run second inning
• Romine scores on a passed ball, stretching the Var advantage to 6-0
• Mariah Hanner singled in Leeviraphan to cap off a four-run second inning
• Both teams would remain quiet until the bottom of the sixth
• Brooke Arnold doubled, was pinch-run for by Morgan Shockley, then Romines doubled Shockley in, ending the game 8-0
• Samantha Romano pitched a complete game shutout for the Valor

Gloriana Su'a was in the circle for the Blue Devils, she lasted 1.1 innings giving up four runs (two earned), on two hits and three walks, striking out none. Clover Brandt entered in relief, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits, striking out a batter in 0.2 innings of work. Grace Schriber pitched the final three innings for the Blue Devils, allowing one run on four hits, striking out one.

How It Happened: LTU 5, GGC 13

• Callie Tatum leads off the first with a single, steals second and Su'a would bring her home with a single. LTU 1, GGC 0
• Georgia Gwinnett would answer with a five spot in the top of the second
• Three straight singles led to the first run for the Grizzlies. GGC 1, LTU 1
• Logan Oller's double scored Lea McFadden and Angelica Gallegos. GGC 3, LTU 1
• Jane Hoover brings in Oller with a single. GGC 4, LTU 1
• Hoover comes in on a Kloey Goins single. GGC 5, LTU 1
• The Blue Devils would get two back in the bottom half of the inning on an error by the second baseman, bringing in Erin Wehler and Lauren Lanphear. GGC 5, LTU 3
• In the third, Lani Trent took Grace Roeske deep. GGC 6, LTU 3
• Lauren Fife would answer with a 2-RBI double to left, scoring Mazie James and Wehler. GGC 6, LTU 5
• The Grizzlies tacked on another in the fifth, when Oller singles in McFadden. GGC 7, LTU 5
• A bases-loaded single by Gallegos advanced each runner one spot, starting a 6-run inning. GGC 8, LTU 5
• McFadden's sac fly drove home the ninth run of the evening for the Grizzlies
• Hoover drives in two with a grounder to left, plating both Gallegos and Oller. GGC 11, LTU 5
• A single by Brooke Parker brings in Oller GGC 12, LTU 5
• Hoover scampers in off a single by Goins, giving the Grizzlies an eight run lead
• The Blue Devils would retire in order to end the game.

Roeske started for LTU. She pitched 2.1 innings, allowing six runs (all earned) on 12 hits and a walk. She struck out zero and was tagged with the loss. Grace Schriber pitched 3.2 innings of relief giving up seven runs on six hits and three walks, striking out one.

The Blue Devils return to action on Sunday, February 27, when they take on Coastal Georgia at 9:00 am on the final day of the NFCA Tournament.
