Southfield, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University men's tennis team got its first win of 2022, edging out Lake Superior State University 4-3 inside the Franklin Athletic Club on Saturday evening.
At 2-doubles, Alexander Tammaro and Luca Roth made quick work of the duo from Hillsdale, winning 6-2.
Patrick Putschbach and Janis Schneider were doubled up at the top flight, 3-6, but Nils Hammarsten and Evan Morgan game through at 3-double to secure the point for LTU.
Hammersten rolled that momentum into his 3-singles match as he won in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 before Schneider dropped his second match of the day by scores of 2-6, 4-6.
Tammaro experienced similar struggles as his doubles partner, falling in two sets at 1-singles, 3-6, 4-6 as the Lakers tied the match at 2-2.
Morgan continued his strong start to his Blue Devils career, winning in quick fashion, 6-0, 6-2 at 2-singles as Lawrence Tech pulled within one point of clinching the match.
Pedro Garcia-Orellanas shut the door on the Lakers as he took his 4-singles match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 as the Blue Devils won the match 4-3.
The Blue Devils play host to Wayne State on Tuesday, February 8th at noon as they continue their home stand at the Franklin Athletic Club.
