Rafaela Tedesco lost the 2-doubles match to M. Szpakowska/J. Beaulieu 6-1.
A. Buyssen/M. Komar secured the doubles point for the Warriors, defeating
Jacqueline Alcocer/
Paola Herrera Rivera, 6-0.
Miriam McCormick/
Angela Anderanin dropped the 3-doubles match against M. Arafat/D. Obedericio 6-3, earning the sweep of the Blue Devils in doubles.
In singles:
2-seeded Komar quickly dispatched Alcocer 6-0, 6-0. WSU 2, LTU 0.
The Arafat/Tedesco 3-singles matchup went in favor of Wayne State, 6-2, 6-2
4-seeded Szpakowska took down McCormick 6-2, 6-0
In the top flight, Herrera Rivera was handled by Ruyssen 6-1, 6-2.
Mattingly-Harnden faced Beaulieu in 5-singles. Beaulieu won, 6-2, 6-0.
Obedericio defeated
Taylor Moore in the 6-singles match in straight 6-2 sets.
The Warriors went on to win 7-0.
Coach Mertz on the match: "Wayne state is a very strong team and they took it to us today. We need to work on believing ourselves out on the court more and trusting in our playing ability. I know we will bounce back for Spring Arbor next weekend with more energy and a positive mindset."
The Blue Devils continue this week, when they face Spring Arbor at Franklin Athletic Club on Saturday at 4pm.
