Millersville Defeats Women's Tennis

Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Lawrence Technological University women's tennis team traveled to South Carolina to start their spring break trip. They started out against Millersville.

In doubles:

Miriam McCormick/Angela Anderanin fell in the 3-doubles match against Lanius/Consigliere 6-1

The top-flight doubles match saw Htwar/Soo defeated Jacqueline Alcocer/Paola Herrera Rivera, 6-0, earning the point for the Marauders.

Taylor Mattingly-Harnden/Rafaela Tedesco dropped the 2-doubles match to Abramowitz/Rault 6-3, earning the sweep of the Blue Devils in doubles. 

In singles: 
Rault overpowered McCormick in 4-singles 6-2, 6-1. MU 2, LTU 0

3-singles had Abramowitz/Tedesco go to three sets, but Millersville got the win 7-6 (3), 3-6, 10-6. MU 3, LTU 0.

In the top flight, Htwar dismantled Herrera Rivera, 7-5, 6-4, securing victory for Millersville. MU 4, LTU 0.

2-seeded Soo bested Alcocer, 6-0, 6-3. MU 5, LTU 0.

Mattingly-Harnden was outmatched by Hayes in 5-singles, suffering a 6-3, 6-1 defeat. MU 6, LTU 0

#6 singles Taylor Moore lost to Lanius, 7-5, 6-0, to give Millersville a 7-0 victory.
Coach Mertz on the match:  "The women had many opportunities to close out a few more sets today. Overall, they played well and competed hard, which is the most important part.."
The Blue Devils teturn to action on Monday, taking on Marian in Hilton Head.
