FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech Men's Golf B team had a commanding performance today, finishing in a
tie for 1st place
at their own LTU Invitational, ultimately winning the tiebreaker over Cleary. The Blue Devils were led by exceptional individual scores, with three players finishing at or just one stroke over par, which secured them a share of the team title.
The lowest score for the Blue Devils was carded by Federico Sandrolini, who shot a 72 (+1). His solid round was anchored by an impressive 2-under 34 on the back nine, a crucial contribution to the team's total. Sandrolini was closely followed by a two-way tie for the team's second-best score, with both Mateusz Zygadlo and Santiago Herrero finishing with a 73 (+2). Herrero's round started strong with an even-par 35 on the front nine, while Zygadlo matched Sandrolini's strong finish, also carding a 2-under 34 on the final nine holes. Rounding out the scoring were Ali Elsayed and David Mariel, who both contributed competitive rounds of 75 (+4). Mariel provided another highlight on the back nine for LTU, shooting a 1-under 35. The collective effort and tight grouping of scores allowed the Blue Devils to match the winning score in their home tournament.
The C team for the Blue Devils also competed in the tournament and were led by freshman David Krige. David shot even par and earned himself a top 5 overall finish with a share of 4th place.
