DETROIT, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's tennis team fell to NCAA Division II Wayne State (Mich.) University, 5-0, on February 27 in Detroit.
The Warriors took the first point by winning both doubles flights. At court-one, Maria Vega-Hazas (FR/Santander, Spain) and Sabrina Mateos (JR/Mexico City, Mexico) lost 6-0 against Dasha Kuznetsova and Khadija Da-Silva. The duo of Samantha Kohn (SO/Dearborn, Mich.) and Samantha Weber (FR/Clarkston, Mich.) fell 6-2 to Astrid Ciellza and Stephanie Stamate at second flight.
In singles, Vega-Hazas, Mateos, and Weber lost 6-0, 6-1 at courts one, two and four. Kohn fell for a double 6-0 at singles-three.
Lawrence Tech lost at doubles' third flight and singles' fifth and sixth flights by default.
The Blue Devils will return to the court on Saturday, March 2 at 5 p.m. when they host Lake Superior State (Mich.) University at the Franklin Athletic Club.
