Lawrence Tech Falls 5-0 to Northwestern Ohio in Last Match of WHAC Regular Season

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's tennis team fell 5-0 to the University of Northwestern Ohio in the last match of the conference regular season at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield.

Lawrence Tech (10-10, 3-2) started the match with a two-point deficit as the Blue Devils withdrew court-three doubles and sixth singles flight.

Northwestern Ohio (6-13, 5-0) stretched the lead to 4-0 after doubles action. First, Samantha Weber and Samantha Kohn dropped an 8-4 decision to Veronica Rydstrom and Lena Tessmer at second flight. At court-one, Sabrina Mateos and Maria Vega-Hazas fell 8-5 to Camila Puente and Gabriela Eva.

The Racers sealed the victory in singles fifth flight as Maria Nicholls lost with a double 6-0 to Ellen Sandstrom.

The Blue Devils finished the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in third place, just behind UNOH and Aquinas (Mich.) College. For the first round of the WHAC Tournament, LTU will host sixth-seeded Concordia (Mich.) University-Ann Arbor on Thursday, April 18 at 11:30 a.m. in the Franklin Athletic Club. The winner of this matchup will face off with Aquinas in the semifinals on Tuesday, April 23.
