Franklin Athletic Club - Southfield, Mich - The Lawrence Tech Women's Tennis team competed this past weekend in a friendly match against Spring Arbor University. In this match the Blue Devils dominated both the singles and doubles matches. LTU won the doubles 4-2, and took the victory in the singles matches 2-0. This extended their record to 5-0 on the season.
Singles - Samantha Kohn started off the singles matches by winning in straight sets (7-6, 6-2). The next three women for LTU also all won in straight sets as the Blue Devils offense in this match seemed to be clicking. Sabrina Matoes won (6-2, 6-2). Sam Weber carried the momentum with a win (6-1, 6-1). Carolin Minners was able to come out on top, and didn't drop one set in the second set (6-2, 6-0).
Doubles – Minners & Kohn seemed to have great chemistry in this doubles match as they battled to escape a close match (6-4). Matoes & Nicholls also competed in their doubles match beating Spring Arbor (6-3).
Next on the schedule for our LTU Women's Tennis Team is Indiana Wesleyan University & Cumberland (KY.). Matches will begin on Saturday, February 15th. The first match will start at 4:00pm, as the second match will take place at 10:00pm. The University of Northwestern Ohio will host the weekend matches. The Blue Devils seem to be rolling right now as they look to carry their momentum into the weekend and stay in the win column.
