Marion, IN – The Lawrence Technological University women's tennis team also participated in the ITA Regional Tournament this week, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
In the women's singles main bracket, 10-seeded Olga Aliagas Mejina headlined the main singles bracket by reaching the semifinal match, where she lost to 2-seeded Ashlee Fisk from Indiana Wesleyan.
Other Blue Devils participating in this bracket were Margot Fontaine, Alice Radde, Samantha Kohn, and Samantha Weber. Margot Fontaine won her first match (6-4, 6-7(2), 17-15) before being ousted by the top-seeded Maddie Bemisderfer (6-1, 6-1) from Indiana Wesleyan. Radde lost her first-round match (3-6, 6-3, 10-6). Kohn was defeated by Calcatelli (7-6(5), 6-4) from Indiana Tech. Weber defeated Goshen's Godzisz (6-1, 6-4) before being dismantled by 7-seeded Mariana Murcia (6-3, 6-3) from Indiana Tech.
Radde and Kohn both got a chance in the main consolation, and each advanced to the round of 16 before being eliminated.
In the women's singles B draw, Maria Nicholls lost her opening round match (6-4, 6-0). Meanwhile, Angela Anderanin reached the semifinals, following wins of (6-1, 6-0); (8-1); and a default, but Marian's Leibacher was too much for her, winning (8-4) to get to the championship.
In the women's singles B consolation draw, Nicholls was entered into the consolation bracket after losing her opening-round match, but lost this opening-round set as well (8-2), eliminating her from contention.
In the main draw of the women's doubles bracket, Radde / Aliagas Mejina advanced to the round of 16 (8-6) before top-seeded Bemisderfer / Golz from Indiana Wesleyan handled them (8-1). Anderanin / Weber lost their opening round match (8-3). Kohn / Fontaine were taken down by 5-seeded Jimenez / Moore from Indiana Tech (8-4).
The women's doubles consolation draw gave Anderanin / Weber some redemption, as they defeated UNOH's Centina / Lopcic (8-6), but then fell against Marian's Yarbrough / Conley (8-6). Kohn / Fontaine, however, could not find their footing, losing their opening-round consolation match (8-4) to Goshen's Kalai / Godzisz.
The Blue Devils did not have any competitors in the women's doubles B draw.
Their next event is October 15 at 9 am against Lake Superior State
