LTU’s Blue Devils amassed a 20-2 record during the 1950-51 regular season, averaging 74.4 points per game against the likes of Penn State, Bowling Green, and DePaul. Their stellar season culminated with an invitation to play with seven other top teams in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) at New York’s Madison Garden. LTU was the smallest university, in terms of enrollment, to play in the NIT at that time.
