Hall of Fame
Don G. Ridler coached varsity football, track, swimming, cross country, track while he served as athletic director at LTU. Ridler’s teams represented Michigan at the National Association of Intercollegiate Basketball tournaments in 1942, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1952, and 1954. In 1951, Lawrence Tech became the first college in Metro Detroit to play in the National Invitational Tournament in New York’s Madison Square Garden. He was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1981, posthumously.
LTU also honored Ridler, as the field house complex where basketball and volleyball are hosted bears his name.
