The Blue Devils’ leading scorer for the 1950-51 season, Denning, a forward, amassed 349 points employing a deadly hook shot made with either hand. He left LTU after his senior year in 1952 to join the Harlem Globetrotters. He was later drafted by the Baltimore Bullets (Now the Washington Wizards). In 1999, Denning was named one of the “Founding Fathers” of professional basketball by the Black Legends of Professional Basketball Foundation. His number 14 hangs from the rafters of Don Ridler Field House.
